The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs in Somalia (AWE Somalia) attended a special event on October 11, 2023, to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child.

The annual gathering seeks to increase advocacy for the realisation of girls’ rights and to urge governments and development agencies to adopt initiatives to enhance their overall well-being. The theme of this year’s event was “Our Time is Now, Our Rights Our Future.” The event featured speeches from government officials, and development partners, as well as panel discussions on topics such as the importance of girls’ education, the role of women in business, and the challenges and opportunities facing girls in Somalia.
