During a working visit, the UNIDO Somalia team, along with representatives from the UNIDO HQ office, paid a visit to the iRise Hub office. This visit marked the beginning of a new collaboration between iRise Hub and UNIDO for the BIC Somali project, which is currently accepting its first round of applications. Both parties expressed their enthusiasm for the strengthened and expanded collaboration in the future. As part of the visit, the iRise Hub management provided the guests with a comprehensive tour of the office facilities and workspace.

We were honored to host Mr. Mohamud, a successful entrepreneur running a clothing business in Mogadishu, as our guest lecturer. He shared his entrepreneurial journey, the challenges he faced, and his strategies for managing stocks, orders, and finances. The session concluded with a Q&A, allowing participants to gain further insights from his expertise.

On 23rd – 24th May 2023, representatives from iRise Hub, attended a workshop organized by the Somali Women Development Centre (SWDC) on Common Legal Issues and Referral Pathways for Non-Legal Aid Organizations. The workshop aimed to equip staff members from various non-legal aid organizations with knowledge on legal issues faced by their beneficiaries and how to refer them to appropriate legal services.

The participants discussed challenges in the justice system, like lack of awareness about victims’ rights, bribery, victim shaming, and concerns related to family law. The participants emphasized the importance of identifying legal issues and connecting beneficiaries with legal aid services such as awareness, counseling, assistance, and representation. The presenters highlighted the need for confidentiality and informed consent when dealing with legal matters.

iRise Hub attended the Stockholm Internet Forum 2023 (SIF23), a prominent event held in Stockholm from May 30th to 31st, 2023. SIF23 provided a platform for global discussions on internet-related issues, policies, and advancements. iRise Hub’s presence at the forum showcases our commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration in the digital sphere. Our engagement in SIF23 allowed us to connect with international stakeholders and exchange knowledge and experience.
