The overriding aim of the MTS is to showcase local tech talents and recognize
Somali innovators and entrepreneurs. Unlike other gatherings and events, MTS is all about innovation in action, and brings forward new voices of young Somali tech entrepreneurs, developers, geeks, and coders.
Igniting a civic discourse towards participatory, democratic and inclusive Somalia and beyond. Minbar is a forum for honest debate on topical issues in the Horn. Distinctly liberal, progressive and bold.
The program contributes to three results; stabilization and local governance, inclusive and sustainable growth, and protection and graduation of the most vulnerable. The program’s primary focus is employment and job creation but goes beyond narrow skills and entrepreneurship training by fostering an enabling environment for positive youth development that improves youth lives.

TVET Centers Initiative serves as educational, recreational, and social hubs for young people, aiming to provide a secure environment where they can create lasting, positive changes in their lives. Our key offerings include Adolescent and Youth Health Counselling, vocational and technical training, ICT and multimedia courses, beauty salon and henna workshops, tailoring skills development, as well as various workshops and seminars. In the past two years, we have successfully trained and certified over 5,000 youths. Additionally, we constructed the Dhusamareb Youth Center and collaborate with the Ministry of Youth to co-manage other TVET centers in Jubbaland, Puntland, and Southwest states.
Innovate for Food Security (IFFS) advances agricultural innovation in Somalia through initiatives like Agricultural Machinery Initiative which provides local solutions such as greenhouse kits, drip irrigation systems, and durable mechanical windpumps for irrigation. These innovations support Somali farmers with affordable, efficient tools for enhanced crop production and water management. IFFS also accelerates agro-production and agro-processing startups and MSMEs. By fostering these efforts, IFFS aims to improve food security, support the local economy, and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
Empowering a generation of change-makers
UPSHIFT is an opportunity to support youth and adolescents to become a force for positive social and economic change, contributing to a competitive labour force, sustained economic growth, improved governance, and vibrant civil societies. UPSHIFT empowers young people to identify challenges in their communities and create entrepreneurial solutions to address them.
